to yoga or not to yoga that is the question..

to yoga or not, would largely depends on what you're getting at. this is my point of view.

yoga by basic understand of my own limited brain power is to 'meditate' and what i mean by meditating is to find 'inner peace', to 'centre' yourself in this big busy world. recent statement by the fatwa council has caused a little uproar yet again from our highly 'allergic-to-fatwas' population of muslims and non muslim alike and of course Sisters in Islam has to butt in with their own little views (i just thot they like to feel important).

perhaps uttering the calming words of Subhanallah Walhamdulillah Walaillahailallah would make Yoga suitable for the human spirit instead of chanting 'im a tree, feel the earth with my hairy dry toes with warts'.

its all about finding a sense of calm and a sense of inner quite from the turbulance busy life of the city. its madness out there, there's a million kind of pollution; smoke, noise, rubbish etc. and malaysians do need the time to chill in a weird pose very similar to monkeys shitting on the tree tops.

im not belittling yoga nor am i disregarding the clerical views on yoga, but there comes a time when they need to be one about it. if iran is practising syariah law (fully) and yoga is the main mode of healthy lifestyle for the population, why can't we?

it'll be no different that sitting cross legged on the floor and getting blood circulation cut off from your toes than standing in a tree pose and chanting Allah is most great. but do make sure you wear appropriate attire, none of those clothes that makes your bulge hanging out by the sides. i don't care what you think, its UGG GEE LEE..

sekian terima kasih.

No offence. Just curious. But I wanna share with you one thing.

According to their laws, correct me if I'm wrong, it is allowed to have male-to-female or female-to-male sex reassignment surgery(SRS).

Hmmm.... Do you think it is Islamic? Or to put it in a better sentence, does Islam (the Quran, the authentic hadith and the sound ijtihad of Muslim scholars based on the Quran and the authentic hadith) allows such thing?

It is only a question. I don't have any intention to condemn you or your writing. Jangan marah yar (",)

one must never be apologetic for your own statements, its up for the readers to react on their own terms. :) ..

to say sorry is condescending to other's views of life..

if someone misunderstood what you mean, correct it.

i mildly flattered that you have put forward and serious question and expecting me to answer, with all my humble apology i must say i am not the right person to deal with such question.

however i will say isnt portraying something 'islamic' a highly subjective issue? you would say in your Sunni point of view, and they Shiah...

As we know, Islam is the most comprehensive religion. Everything has been taught by Allah s.w.t. through His messenger Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. And that is the reason of why the last Quranic verse revealed to Prophet Muhammad said: "Indeed today I have perfected your religion (Islam)...."

The kind of Islam taught by Prophet Muhammad is neither Sunni nor Shi'i; it is purely Islam as revealed directly from Allah s.w.t through Jibril as the mediator. Thus, one cannot say that there is Sunni Islam, Shi'i Islam, Khawarij Islam and others. Islam is only Islam. Even, we should not say or compartmentalize Islam into different mazahibs such as Hanafi, Hambali, Maliki and Shafi'e. If we continue doing it, we are merely following the footsteps of the Christians and the Jews.

Thus, is portraying something 'Islamic' a highly subjective issue? (",)

A highly subjective issue? Adam, be careful of what u say.

Islam is the most comprehensive religion revealed by Allah to Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, through Jibrail as the mediator. The last Quranic verse revealed to Prophet Muhammad clearly says: "Today, I have perfected your religion [Islam]...."

The kind of Islam brought by Prophet Muhammad was neither Sunni nor Shi'i. It was purely Islam.

Islam is only Islam. We should not compartmentalize it into different groups such as Sunni, Shi'i or Khawarij, or even into different school of thoughts such as Hanafi, Maliki, Hambali and Shafi'e. And these groups/school of thoughts emerged few years after the demise of Prophet Muhammad. In the case of school of thoughts, I am not saying that the founders such as al-Imam al-Malik, al-Imam as-Syafi'e etc had fabricated Islam. But the point I am trying to say is there should not be any kinds of groupings in Islam; Islam is only Islam. Even if we refer to the history, al-Imam as-Syafi'e himself did not have any intention to establish any kind of school of thought within Islamic jurisprudence. It was his followers who did that.

If we, Muslims, believe that portraying something 'Islamic' is a highly subjective issue, I am afraid that in the future Islam will become like Christianity and Judaism.

Ugh.. you guys are thinking too much.

Islam is fully objective. To say that its practices are subjected to interpretations is wrong.

The current Holy bible was formed (gospels chosen) by a council headed by Constatine 300 years after Jesus died. These gospels were only written by Mark, Matthew etc 30 years after Jesus died.

The Quran, revealed to our Rasul and has never changed until today.

Faith is something personal.

If you want to practice Yoga, then just do it. But if it leads you to Syirik, then, you are responsible with that decision for the rest of your life.. and no Fatwa council can answer for you when you are asked by God at the end of time.

The fatwa council is just doing their job and executing their responsibility for the betterment of the entire ummah.

You gotto be strong to ensure that you are not involve in syirik. You may not pray 5 times a day or you may consume alcohol, but if your soul is strong, you would always know that, there is only one God.

but hey, since this is not a perfect world, not everybody is that strong. The Fatwa councils are protecting the weaker ones. The council is thinking outside the box.

This is just my humble opinion.

Dun think too much guys. Sometimes, thinking too much is a result of heavy whispering of the Satan himself trying to confuse us.

Lalalala.

there is more to life than yoga.
